Tuna Assassin Fishing Lure
Three red headed squid that tuna can not leave alone. The Tuna Assassin is a three bait rig: glossy deep red heads, pearl white skirts and a heavy shot of pink and holographic flash, each squid carrying its own stainless hook. Rigged by hand in Fort Lauderdale and ready to fish out of the bag.
What makes it work
Red and white is one of the oldest tuna color combinations there is, and for good reason. The dark red heads give fish a solid target, the pearl skirts read like bait in clear blue water, and the flash throws light every time the rig skips and dives. Three baits running together look like a small school, and every one of them can be eaten.
How to fish it
Run it on a flat line or the short rigger, a few waves behind the boat, so it skips on the surface and digs between swells. Troll 6 to 9 knots over humps, rips, wrecks, color changes and temperature breaks. When you mark bait or see birds working, slow down and turn wide so it sweeps the edge of the school. It pairs well with the Tuna Striker and the Tuna Flyer in a tuna spread.
