Hi, I’m Austin, and I’m thrilled to share with you the story of how Bar Jacks came to be. For as long as I can remember, my family has shared a deep and enduring appreciation for the ocean. It’s a love that’s been ingrained ever since I can remember and it’s a love that’s at the heart of everything we do here at Bar Jacks. 

Growing up, I was fortunate to have three amazing brothers and supporting parents, together we forged unforgettable memories on the open waters. It all began when my father made a life-changing decision to invest in our very first boat. But, let me be clear from the start - we weren’t the luxurious, leisurely cruising type of family. No, we were something far more rugged and adventurous; we were a fishing family. 

Let me tell you, it was not easy in the beginning. None of us were experts in the art of fishing, but every weekend we went out on the water, determined to learn and improve. This is when Bar Jacks was born. In the beginning, everytime we went out fishing, the only fish we could catch were bar jacks. Now don’t get me wrong, we were excited we were catching fish but it was not the pelagic fish we were after. The thrill of the hunt, the serenity of the open sea, and the anticipation of what lay beneath the surface drew us in, time and time again. 

Each trip was a learning experience, and we made our fair share of mistakes. We fumbled with fishing lines, laughed at the one that got away, and eagerly swapped stories of the big fish that we’d “definitely” catch next time. But it was in those moments of togetherness, surrounded by the vast expanse of the ocean, that we discovered something extraordinary.

The ocean had so much more to offer than just the pursuit of fish. It was a place of inspiration, a place of connection, and a place where lifelong memories were forged. As we honed our fishing skills, we also honed our understanding of the ocean’s beauty, its majesty, and the importance of preserving it for future generations. 

Bar Jacks is the embodiment of our family’s passion for the ocean and our journey through the world of fishing. It’s a place where we aim to share not only the thrill of the catch but also the deep appreciation we have for the ocean itself. Through our customized apparel, handpicked gear, expert advice, and love for all things marine, we hope to inspire others to embrace the beauty and wonder of the ocean, just as our family has.
