Three lures, three different conditions
Mahi hunt by sight, and what they will eat changes with the light and the water. The Phantom Striker is the loud one — a three-hook daisy chain that looks like a fleeing baitball and pulls fish up off the weedline, with a hook in every squid so they can eat it when they get there. The Ghost Striker is the opposite: translucent white with pink and silver flash, the closest thing to a real bait, and the one that works when the water is gin-clear and the sun is high. The Mahi Chugger is for the slick, glassy morning when nothing is showing and you need to push water. Most anglers carry one of these. Carry all three and you stop losing days to the wrong colour.
How to fish it
Short rigger: Phantom Striker. Long rigger: Ghost Striker. Prop wash: Mahi Chugger. Troll 6–9 knots along a weedline, colour change, or any floating structure — a board, a pallet, a frigate bird working. Bar Jacks runs these on the 400–700 foot Gulf Stream weedlines out of Fort Lauderdale.
